SHYNE PHIRI : Choreographer

Shyne Phiri is a choreographer and movement director living in London. He was a founder member of Zimbabwe’s Tumbuka Dance Company and from 1992 performed in London, Germany, Switzerland, France and Belize, among other places, until he was paralysed in a car accident in 2004. After his accident Shyne slowly began to regain mobility and in 2007 went to work for Malawi’s Nanzikambe Arts as a movement director and choreographer. Since moving to the UK he has worked with Hackney Shed and as an adjudicator for the Dance World Cup. He is thrilled to be reunited with Malawian colleagues for this production of The Tempest.
